How Much Money Do I Need to Start Trading?

When considering how much you will need to set up a trading account, we want you first to realize that you are trading virtually as a new student.  We do this virtual trading first for two reasons; one, because you need to learn your trading platform proficiently and two, you need to traverse the learning curve for our trading system using virtual money not hard earned greenbacks.  Once you can trade with confidence is when you will want to start using real money.

Some platforms may require a certain amount in your account to even establish an account with them, some require very little.  Naturally we don’t recommend trading huge sums right out of the starting gate even if you have huge sums to invest.  For a minimum amount, $2000 to $5000 should get you started trading stocks (Longs and Shorts).  And for Options, about $300 to $1000.  When taking the class, you will have a formula that spells out how much of your initial investment you will trade with, so when practicing virtually be sure to use the same virtual dollars amounts that you will be using in real money.
