There is no hard and fast rule on when you should stop virtually trading and start trading stocks and options with real dollars. You must be confident that you know how to use the brokerage platform you have chosen and that you now know the stock and options system like the back of your hand. How long it takes you to get to that point is a personal matter.
We recommend that at a minimum you have virtually executed twenty consecutive trades with successful outcomes. Some students prefer fifty consecutive successful virtual trades. As for the length of time it takes to achieve these goals, that depends largely on how much time you dedicate towards applying what you have learned and also how the market is performing. Based on the way we teach and the mood of the stock market, we let the trades come to us and time takes a back seat.
